Core 120: Enterprise Security

Core 120 focuses on the fundamentals of creating, implementing, and managing enterprise-level security efforts. You will cover topics like security frameworks, network architecture, protocols, wireless security, monitoring, virtualization and cloud, basics of malware, data protection, and more.

Who should take this course

Core 120 is designed for a general audience interested in learning about cyber and information security. While focused on those starting a career in cyber, this series is a great starting point for leaders who need to understand cyber. It is recommended that participants complete Core 110 or have at least six months of cybersecurity experience.

This course introduces you to several industry tools such as Wireshark, pfSense Firewall, and Oracle VM VirtualBox.

Training

You can take Core 120 in various ways: self-paced online to in-person with a cyberTAP instructor. The series is divided into six primary sections: each consisting of lectures, readings, quizzes, self-assessments, and virtual labs. Core 120 is 40 credit hours, and you will earn a badge upon passing.

Security Programs and Architecture: Learn and understand the basics of enterprise system architectures for both risk management and security while gaining a foundation in layered defense,   

Network Security Fundamentals: Understand the basics of network security topics, such as topologies, protocols, and access controls. 

Enterprise Concepts: Learn the ends and outs of enterprise networks, such as endpoint security, vulnerabilities, and controls.

Cloud Concepts and Virtualization: Practice the basics of cloud security and virtualization concepts.

Industrial Control Systems: Understand ICSs, how their security works, SCADA, and see potential attacks.

Internet of Things: Learn key concepts of protecting IoT devices and applications, such as protocols and paths. 

Tech Requirements

It is recommended that all of cyberTAP courses be taken on a laptop or PC that runs either Windows or Linux as an operating system. We also recommended to have a fast and reliable internet access.
