The ACE Essential Defender Series is comprised of 200-level badges. Learners earn this series by completing courses focused on foundational cybersecurity skills such as firewalls and network protocol analysis practiced in both individual and team settings.

Essential Defender 201
Essential Defender 201 is an entry-level course on defensive skills related to cybersecurity. The knowledge gained from the course will encompass the basic skills about firewalls and network protocol analysis that all of those in a defensive role should know and understand. The course consists of three individual-based cyber range simulation activities to help ensure participants not only learn about the tools and concepts but also put them into practice.
Essential Defender 202
Essential Defender 202 is an entry-level course on defensive cybersecurity skills paired with an introduction to the concept of the “Blue Team.” During this course, participants will be exposed to multiple networks on which they are expected to work together to defend and respond to 3 different cyber-attacks.
